Embracing Change

A journey from Canada to Africa profoundly transformed me. I embraced change and discovered a new life filled with meaning and purpose.

This was a few years ago. I just wanted to let you know that I’ll rewind for you. Born in Canada to parents from Africa, I had spent only three years in Africa as a child, leaving me with no clear memories of the continent. Despite having a fulfilling life in Canada—with a great job, a comfortable home, a car, and good friends—I felt an inexplicable void. My life lacked the challenges and excitement that could drive me to grow and evolve. This feeling prompted me to seek something more.

In 2011, I decided to explore my life’s purpose through meditation and introspection. Deep down, I had been considering relocating for a decade, but I didn’t want to make a hasty decision and end up in the same unfulfilled situation. This time, I wanted to ensure that the move would bring about a profound transformation.

The Transformative Impact of Moving from Canada to Africa

When vacation time arrived in 2011, I was eager to step out of my comfort zone and explore new horizons. A thought popped into my head—why not visit my parents’ home country? I booked my flight and realized I needed a visa and a yellow fever vaccine. I was ready, albeit a bit apprehensive about what I might discover.

Upon arriving in Congo, a warm friend I met in Canada welcomed me at the airport. The moment I stepped off the plane and felt the warm air on my face, I knew something special awaited me. I felt a sense of belonging as I rode the bus to the terminal. The country seemed to whisper, “Welcome back,” I responded, “I am home.” Though I still felt Canadian, relocating from Canada to Africa transformed my life in every way.

During my visit, I had the chance to spend time with my father, who was living in Congo during my vacation, as he was living in the USA, too. Seeing the happiness on his face when I visited the country was heartwarming. Despite having negative memories of Congo from childhood, I saw the country through new eyes—everything was beautiful, and the people were kind and resilient. This visit marked the beginning of my transformation.

Reiki Energy Healing

As an energy healer and Reiki Master, I couldn’t ignore my profound experiences. I decided to return in June, this time to look for a job. I felt an unexplainable connection to the place, and deep in my soul, I knew it was where I belonged. My parents were apprehensive, fearing I would face cultural challenges and hardships. Despite their concerns and my friends’ worries, I followed my intuition.

After the June trip, I didn’t get a contract job, but I met a few companies. In Africa, everything is slow. It’s different than in Canada because that is how it is. I learned that not all goes like in Canada, and there is a lot of protocol.

Back in Canada, I informed my employer that I was leaving. I needed to sell my car, find someone for my apartment, and get rid of everything. My dad didn’t want me to move; for him, I should’ve at least come back for vacation and decided the following year. My friends thought it was risky. I followed my intuition; that’s how I have lived for the past 40 years, and that won’t change now. Two months after I moved, I learned that the company I was working for was closing its office in Canada. Synchronicity! 😊

Discover How Embracing Change and Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

In September 2011, I moved to Africa. I was ready for the challenges ahead, feeling I could find my purpose here. One significant challenge was the perception of Reiki energy healing in Congo, where people often associated it with sorcery. Despite these obstacles, I embraced my African heritage and adapted to the culture and traditions. I also sought the best Reiki treatment near me to enhance my practice and understanding.

Living in Africa taught me to appreciate what I have. Despite their struggles, the people here are happy, smiling, and always ready to dance. I learned to be patient and to understand that life is not just about work. The sun’s constant presence made a significant difference in my outlook. I was able to partially heal from a rare disorder with no cure.

My experience also revealed the harsh realities of international aid and development. Despite external claims of support, poverty and lack of basic necessities persisted. This realization deepened my commitment to helping the local population find happiness and peace.

The transformation I experienced was profound. I became less judgmental and more empathetic. I understood that each person’s journey is unique, and while I can offer guidance, it is up to them to take the necessary steps.

Lead to Personal Growth and Fulfillment

How relocating from Canada to Africa transformed my life is indescribable. The transformation is more within, in my soul, and who I became. There is a lot to do on this continent. A lot of information is withdrawn from them. They don’t know much and just follow what the leaders tell them. There is a lot of corruption worldwide, but it is not hidden here. So yes, all of this transformed my life. People who are really qualified or awake move out of the country. Some came back while I moved there.

In Canada, I was pampered. I didn’t know what life was; I didn’t know what it meant to fight for your life. Life is more than the word itself. Today, I am conscious about my life and the meaning of life, and by meditating on that with what I’ve learned over the past years, I value my life, each breath I take, every step I make, and I smile and send unconditional love to the person in front of me.

One conversation with my father stood out. When I asked him if he was tired of fighting for everything he desired, he replied, “Life is not worth it if you don’t fight. If everything is easy, why live then?” This perspective resonated with me. Every challenge is a lesson, and overcoming them brings a sense of accomplishment. By finding the best Reiki healer near me and engaging in accredited holistic health practitioner programs, I was able to grow personally and professionally.

In conclusion, relocating from Canada to Africa profoundly transformed my life, emphasizing the positive changes and personal growth resulting from embracing new experiences and environments. It showcases the power of stepping out of one’s comfort zone and embracing change as a catalyst for personal development and fulfillment. Do I regret the move? Not at all. Since moving here, I have been a better person and version of myself. I understand even more about human beings, and I learned that every person has their own evolution. I can help, but the rest is the person who needs to take the step.
